They may struggle with managing their time, prioritizing, planning, persisting at tasks and sustaining motivation towards goals. Sir Fopling and Young Belair both try to come across as liking one kind of lifestyle when they truly despise it. This idea runs almost parallel to the main character from Mean Girls. Cady is asked to be someone she is not and says yes which leads her to put on a kind of mask for nearly the whole film. When Cady meets the ‘plastics,’ she finds that they think she is pretty just like they are. However, the girls automatically try to make Cady even more like them so she fits in better. Regina indirectly demands each one of these characters to imitate someone they are not. The person they are expected to act and look like is Regina herself. In this movie, the similar quality that the four girls share is their ability to attract other human beings with the way they dress and the makeup they wear to look pretty. Clearly, what makes this clique stick together is not emotional strength. It is merely that the four of think they are socially superior to everyone else in their high school society. In the movie this represents that the girls are not being themselves, but trying to be Regina. Cady especially works her way up to this level throughout the film until she is able to rediscover herself at the end of it. The Social Identity Theory also explains this phenomenon. Within social groups, the members use favoritism to make a statement for their group. This means that the members pick a favorite and try to imitate them to the best of their ability (Lesa, Lease, Kwon, 154). In Mean Girls, the â€Å"favorite† is Regina. After Cady becomes part of the plastics she channels this favoritism and begins to act like Regina. Close to the end of the film, one of her friends, Janice, insults Cady for being â€Å"just like Regina.† The Social Identity Theory shows that part of the reason Cady stopped acting like herself was because of the favoritism her clique showed towards Regina. The Social Identity Theory can be used to explain why Sir Fopling’s feels the need to be more like Dorimant and to fit into his group of friends. Throughout the entire play, Flutter is constantly trying to impress Dorimant because he is jealous of the way his position in society. Dorimant is a very fashionable person who is respected by the majority of characters in the play. Because Dorimant and Flutter have some mutual friends, the social identity theory can help explain why Flutter constantly obsesses over his appearance. Similar to what the plastics do with Regina in Mean Girls, Flutter constantly tries to impress these people on the same level Dorimant is able to. Towards the end of the play, Sir Fopling goes so far as to try and embarrass Dorimant. However, in this process he merely just embarrasses himself. Furthermore, it is the same group of people that he is trying to impress that continue to edge him on through the embarrassment process. Unlike in Mean Girls, the fo rceful acts that Dorimant, Mrs. Loveit and the others put Flutter through reveals his true self. Sir Fopling starts referring to Dorimant by his real name, not the fake name, Courtage, Dorimant wanted to be called at a party (IV, iv). Ironically, Fopling takes a literal mask off when he comes to this party, but he also takes off his mask of fashion and high stature. Throughout the whole scene, Fopling does not try and stop impressing Dorimant even though it is hurting his reputation. The Social Identity Theory explains that this is due to the fact that in social groups, a favorite is chosen and the others constantly try to impress them (Lesa, Lease, Kwon, 154). In this case Dorimant is the favorite and Sir Fopling tries to impress him with his conformity to the ideas of the others. Cady, Regina, and the other â€Å"mean girls† all act the way they do because of different aspects of the self. These include the ideal, ought, and actual self. The way these aspects interact with each other and shape the ideals of a person make up the self-discrepancy theory (Chuan, Huang, Zhao 466). Short Story - 1018 Words

Mentions of near death--or better yet a hasty correction of actual demise--caused the newest displeased crinkle to mar his brow, yet there was little time to dwell on the tugging of well banished memories as his unwanted companion continued to speak. Being presented with a name, despite him proclaiming that he had had no interest in learning one, was against his desires, but would ultimately serve him well. Or at least it would be better than constantly thinking up crude descriptors to rely on. While Cyrus held absolutely no intention of remaining in this strange atmosphere he’d awoken in, there was an uncomfortable sense of foreboding that there would be no removal from his current circumstances for quite some time. This paper presents a brief review of diverse social biases and comprehension of Asian student’s stereotypes and discrimination in community colleges. Stereotyping people makes you ignore their individuality, but on the other hand, it helps you to find people who most likely will match who you are. Addiction support groups gives the person a safe place to discuss these challenges while maintaining sobriety. They offer invaluable education, guidance, and the encouragement the patient needs to succeed in living a healthier lifestyle. He was diagnosed with cancer and his treatment was interacting adversely with the alcohol intake. He was also given an ultimatum. William Shakespeare went to a very good grammar school in Stratford-upon- Avon. Two of his instructors were Oxford graduates, Simon Hunt and Thomas Jenkins. Williams studies were in Greek and Latin. He developed the ability of keen observation of both nature and mankind. It is said that his education ended here. On November 27, 1582, when William was 18 years old, he married Anne Hathaway. She was ten years older than him. Their first daughter, named Susanna, was born the next year on May 26, 1583. The couple also had twins, Hamnet and Judith, in 1585. Hamnet died at the age of eleven, but it is unknown how. Between the years of 1585 and 1592 no evidence of what happened in Shakespeares life is known. These years are called The Hidden Years. It is said that during this stretch of time, he ran away from the law or was the apprentice of a butcher, although a man named John Aubry was told by Christopher Beston that Shakespeare was a school teacher up until 1592 somewhere in London. Beginning in 1592, in London, he became known as an established playwright. In 1593 he found a patron, Henry Wriothsley, to sponsor him. William Shakespeare was also an actor, writer, director, and stockholder in The Kings Men company. He acted for a company called The Kings Men. This company became the largest and most famous acting company simply because William was performing and working for them. Shakespeare wrote two long poems. His first, Venus and Adonius, was written in the year 1593. Then a year later he wrote, Rape of Lucrece. These were written at a time when theatres were closed because of the contagious epidemic known as the plague.In the late 1590s he wrote many plays. Most of them being comedies, the major ones are: The Taming of the Shrew, The Comedy of Errors, As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Romeo and Juliet was his only tragedy written during this time. In 1599 a theatre called the Globe was built by Shakespeares company. Som e of his most prominent tragedies written and performed were Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. Since Shakespeare was established playwright, he was wealthy because of multiple income sources. In 1597 he bought his family a huge house called New Place, located in Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare retired from theatre in 1610 and returned to Stratford. On the 25th of March, 1616, he wrote his will. On April 23, 1616, the same date as his birthday, William Shakespeare died.He was buried at the chancel of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Stratford. The cause of his death is unknown. Many people believe that he knew that his death was near, but did not want anybody to know. Seven years after he died, in 1623 William Shakespeares first folio was published including 154 sonnets, 36 plays, and his two long poems.
